Voiles sans frontières

We were drawn to Voiles Sans Frontières (VSF), an NGO which bonds the maritime to solidarity action in order to assist remote populations only accessible by seas or rivers.

These populations are so remote that international aid has little to no access to them. Since its foundation in 1997, Voiles Sans Frontières and associated crews have worked mostly in Senegal, on Sine Saloum and Casamance rivers. There are 4 sides to their action:

Health

Circuit assignments, vocational training, health and medical training.

Schooling

Partnerships and twinning between French and Senegalese schools, education for development and solidarity, supporting the development of Senegalese schools.

Development projects

Improving health structures, building rainwater barrels, rehabilitating accommodation for teachers…

ARGO Program

At sea, VSF participates in international ARGO program under the auspices of the UNESCO.

Upon request of the population of the village of Diogane, VSF started a project to reorganize the Diogane school, as this village is often visited by VSF partner crews during health and socio-educational assignments in Sine Saloum.
